No matter how much I see this, I can’t stop watching. If anyone knows where this originated from or can link to a better quality version of the video, please post in the comments below.
UPDATE: Thanks to yourdailymedia.com here is a higher quality version so the analysis of who screwed up the most can continue.

You can see the guy in orange in the background just say “aaaaooohhhh”

Yeah, that orange shirt guy in the backround is a classic, he can’t do anything to stop it! ahahahahahaha, oh that’s painful but you can’t help watching it again and again…

I don’t get it. The runner saw her yet didn’t deviate. He would have been allowed to redo the sprint. Instead, he let himself and the careless girl get injured.
Just stupid. It was both her fault and his fault.

Did he really see her? Its hard to tell. He is looking forward but he was probably in the ‘zone’.

I don’t think he did. I think his eyes were down, and you can see him furrow his eyebrow just as he sees the girl crossing the track.
We need a better quality version of the vid.
I love the way her head swings around just in time too. Triples the pain.

Actually, it looks like the runner is looking down at his lane. Rather common for sprinters; they tuck their head and watch for the line and for stuff to throw their stride. Since the lane is SUPPOSED to be secured and cleared, they don’t worry about watching where they are going.
But yeah, it’s both individuals fault.

hahaha the blonde is at fault. Just the dumb look on her face. She is in a world of her own probably looking at someone yelling at her to get the F out of the way.

how can you guys backseat bench a ’slow motion’ video?
have you ever sprinted off the blocks, or seen an athlete in a real track and field competition, which they are at?
those runners hit top speed and spend most of the race managing their pace and stride,
there’s no way that runner had any chance.
it’s exactly the same as some idiot strolling across in front of people at a gun range. the range users have a right to a clear ‘lane’ to do their training in

Are there any aftermath pictures / videos? Remember to look both ways before crossing!!

That Woman is Gabriela Szabo, three-time world champion, winner of the gold medal in the 2000 Summer Olympics in 5000 m and winner of bronze and silver medals in 1996 Summer Olympics and 2000 Summer Olympics in 1500 m, respectively.

Actually, isn’t the guy in the run-up to the long jump/triple jump. That’s why there’s only one lane. He probably is concentrating on his feet, because his stride needs to match to get the best take-off position for the long jump.

This took place in 2005 I believe. Look at the coloured markers on either side of the track. This indicates either long or triple jump. It is a training track due to the lack of officials there as well as the point that there are other athletes in the hot zone. Jumpers may run through with their eyes closed to measure their step… I cannot see his eyes! She didn’t see anything!!!

That’s a longjump runway and the jumper is Kofi Amoah Prah (GER). I’m not sure but I think this happened at the European Indoor Championships 2002 in the longjump qualification.
Prah later stated he didn’t see her as he was, like someone correctly pointed out above “in the zone”.
